Alphas+Vision
Alphas apparently have some additional vision abilities over betas. Derek is able to see the ink of Scott's[[Scott McCall|Scott]]'s healed tattoo[[Scott's tattoo|tattoo]] when he makes his eyes glow, suggesting x-ray vision or infrared vision, assuming the tattoo would somehow change the heat signature in Scott's body.
Derek further implies that he can see infrared when [[Chris Argent|Chris]] helps them track [[Vernon Boyd|Boyd]] and [[Cora Hale|Cora]] in [[3x03 - Fireflies]]. Chris tosses Derek infrared goggles, and Derek replies, "Thanks, got my own," and flashes his eyes.
