Evelyn Tate was Malia's adoptive mother, the birth mother of [[Kylie Tate]] and [[Henry Tate]]'s wife.
In the early 2000s, Evelyn was driving the family's car on the night of a full moon. Suddenly the car was opened fire on by [[the Desert Wolf]], Malia's birth mother. The car swerved off the road and into the [[Beacon Hills Preserve]]. In the upheaval, Malia shapeshifted into a coyote for the first time and in her feral state mauled Evelyn and Kylie to death., before the car wound up stuck in a ravine.
Evelyn and Kylie's deaths would be remembered by Malia, holding herself accountable for their deaths, causing her no end of grief and guilt.
