Flies
Flies are often associated with rot and decay.
The nogitsune appears to use flies as messengers, if not embodiments of itself. Anyone that the nogitsune has been able to control aside from Stiles has injested a fly. These include: William Barrow, who had a tumor in his body full of flies, Oliver, Derek Hale, Ethan, Aiden, and Isaac Lahey.
The nogitsune tried to get information out of Ken Yukimura by making him swallow a fly.
When the nogitsune's original host, Rhys, was exorcised of the nogitsune's spirit, a fly came out of his mouth, This fly contained the nogitsune's spirit, which Noshiko put into a jar and buried in the nemeton. The nogitsune's spirit is again captured while in the form of the fly, this time in an urn made from wood from the nemeton, to contain its power.
