Evelyn Tate was Malia's adoptive mother, the birth mother of Kylie Tate and Henry Tate's wife.

 

In the early 2000s, Evelyn was driving the family's car on the night of a full moon. Suddenly the car was opened fire on by the Desert Wolf, Malia's birth mother. The car swerved off the road and into the Beacon Hills Preserve. In the upheaval, Malia shapeshifted into a coyote for the first time and in her feral state mauled Evelyn and Kylie to death., before the car wound up stuck in a ravine.

 

Evelyn and Kylie's deaths would be remembered by Malia, holding herself accountable for their deaths, causing her no end of grief and guilt.
