This episode starts right where 3x13 - Anchors left off. Peter and Derek are still being electrocuted by their captors. A man complains to them that his equipment is getting old and inaccurate, so he's not quite sure how far to turn the dial on the electric current. Peter comments that he thinks it's a little high. The man turns the dial higher, and Peter grunts in pain. The man says he's seen some werewolves crack their teeth, while others continue to shake even after they're dead. He shuts off the power to give them a break.

He asks them where la loba is. Derek tells him that they don't know, but the man isn't buying it. He threatens to cut one of them in half, strongly suggesting that he's a hunter. Peter backs Derek up, telling the hunter that they don't know anything. He suggests that bisecting people with a broadsword is a little medieval. "Broadsword? We're not savages," the hunter replies, and his friend fires up a chainsaw. Derek turns to look at Peter with an expression that clearly says Peter should keep his big mouth shut.

25683 medium
One of the hunters threatens to cut off Derek's arm with the chainsaw, while the other says they're pretty sure werewolf can't recover from having their head cut off.

25684 medium
A woman named Araya Calavera orders them to stop. "No tiene que ser tan duro." You don't have to be so hard. The man with the chainsaw stops, and Araya steps closer to Derek. Derek says, "No hablo espanol," wearily, but she replies, "Tu hablas muchos idiomas, Derek Hale." You speak many languages, Derek Hale. She claims that not only does he know what she's saying, he knows who they want. She approaches him with a small curved knife and asks where the She-Wolf is. Derek tells her they don't know any She-Wolf. Araya smiles and nods at him. "I know you won't talk, lobito." Little wolf.

25685 medium
She goes after Peter instead, claiming that he'll talk because he loves the sound of his own voice. "You should hear me sing," Peter says. He complains at Derek that no one ever wants to hear him sing, and Derek couldn't care less. Araya Calavera puts the knife near Peter's eye, and he reacts in fear, his claws coming out. He doesn't answer her question, so she cuts off one of his fingers. Derek stares. Araya tells Peter she's only going to ask nine more times. She drops his finger, and it sticks into the floor on the point of the claw.

Scott and Stiles are still in the woods. They run around looking for each other and eventually collide. Stiles tells Scott that he found something and takes him to a den filled with Malia's things. Scott confirms that Malia is a werecoyote. They touch a few of her things, and then Scott says that they shouldn't be there because they're contaminating her den with their scent. She won't come back home.

25686 medium
Stiles asks where she will go and then asks Scott if he can track her by scent. Scott says he's better at tracking when he's wolfed out but he's afraid he won't be able to turn back if he does that. He says that if he can't get in contact with Derek they're going to have to find someone else to help. Scott then suggests that since they're standing in a crime scene, they should ask Stiles's dad to come help.

25687 medium
The Sheriff and his deputies arrive a little while later. He climbs out of the den with a piece of Malia's clothing and walks up to Scott and Stiles asking if they're sure it was her. Scott tells him that he looked her in the eyes and they glowed like a werewolf's. The Sheriff clarifies that they're not actually sure it was Malia, what they're sure of was that it's a shapeshifting coyote. Scott suggests that Malia shifting on a full moon could be what caused the accident. Stiles figures that she blames herself for the accident and goes running off into the woods and gets trapped in her shifted form. His father yells at him at how insane this all sounds and tells them that they need to keep it quiet. He especially doesn't want Henry Tate finding out.

Just then, Rafael McCall shows up with Henry Tate. Mr. Tate confirms that the clothing the Sheriff had in his hands was his daughter's. Scott tries to stop his dad from getting in the way, but his dad tries to put him in his place, wanting to know how Melissa is okay with Scott running around the woods like this.

25688 medium
The Sheriff demands to know why Agent McCall would bring Henry Tate with him, and McCall replies that he was getting confirmation on a more than significant lead. The Sheriff says there's no body or remains to identify, but McCall is sure there will be if they do a little digging. McCall thinks that if they find the truth it will give Mr. Tate closure.

At school the next day, Stiles and Scott show Allison a map of where they found the den. She confirms that Malia isn't likely to go back to the den because coyotes don't like wolves. She says coyotes are really smart. "If they don't want to be heard, they actually walk on their toes." The bell rings, and Allison leaves for her class.

Kira comes up to Scott and introduces herself, even though he already knows who she is. He smiles at her rambling, and she says that she printed out more information on bardo for him, and that it only took her a couple of hours. She searches in her bag but can't find it. Her father calls her name and then hands her the research that she did "for that boy you like." Kira stares at her dad, mortified, and Scott isn't sure how to react. He grins when she turns around and hands him the printout.

Mr. Yukimura starts history class. They're talking about internment camps and prisoners of war. Scott starts flipping through the information Kira gave him. Mr. Yukimura calls Stiles up to the front of the class to read. Stiles tries to get him to pick someone else, but he insists. Stiles goes up and tries to concentrate on the page. He grips the podium hard, but the letters of the words melt off the page. Stiles looks up, and his vision starts to tunnel.

25691 medium
Scott looks up and notices that Stiles is starting to freak out. He goes up to get him and tells Ken Yukimura that he's going to take him to the nurse's office. Kira looks concerned. Stiles bursts into the bathroom, and Scott asks him if this is a panic attack. Stiles stumbles over to the sink and looks at himself in the mirror. He repeats that this is a dream, just a dream. Scott tells him that it really isn't. He asks Stiles how he can tell if something is a dream. Stiles tells him you can count your fingers, because you'll have extra in a dream.

25692 medium
Scott holds up his hand and has Stiles count along with him. Stiles's heart races as he counts, but when he gets to ten, he starts to calm down. He drops to the floor. Scott tells him that he's going to be okay, but Stiles isn't so sure any of them will be. "Scott, you can't transform. Allison's being haunted by her dead aunt. And I'm straight up losing my mind. We can't do this. We can't... We can't help Malia. We can't help anyone."

Scott replies that they have to try.

25693 medium
The bell rings, and Ken Yukimura tells his students to do the reading on President Carter and the Commission on Wartime Relocation. Kira notices that Scott and Stiles haven't come back and have left their bags. She goes to bring them to them but runs into Malia in the hallway. Malia growls and attacks her. Kira drops the bags and runs into the boys lockers room to hide. Malia jumps through the glass on the door and finds where Kira is hiding. Scott shows up and pushes over all the lockers, making Malia run. Scott notices the doll from the Tate's car crash in Stiles's bag.

Back at the hunters' compound, Peter asks if they could be so kind as to put his severed finger on ice. He also asks for an extra-large band-aid and some antibiotic ointment. They hear footsteps above them, and then lots of gunfire. Spent cartridges rain down. Someone bursts into the room, taking out the remaining guard. It's Braeden, bearing new scars from where Deucalion slashed her face.

25694 medium
Derek guesses that she's the one who saved Isaac. "I'm the one who was hired to save Isaac." Peter asks if someone hired her to save them, and she corrects him. She was hired by Deucalion to save Derek. Somehow, Peter knows that Deucalion is the one who slashed her face and is incredulous that she'd work for him, but she just replies that a girl's got to eat. She frees them both. Peter quickly grabs his severed finger and reattaches it. Braeden tells them they need to leave, but Derek replies that they're not leaving without "it."

25695 medium
At the school, the police department is running around campus trying to catch the coyote. Sheriff Stilinski tells Stiles that some students saw Malia running across the field into the woods. Stiles asks what will happen if Malia hurts someone, and his father replies that they'll have to put it down. Stiles insists that his father think of the girl that they'll be killing if they do that. The Sheriff is unwilling to believe that anything and everything is suddenly possible. He asks if Stiles is 100% sure that the coyote is a girl and not an animal. "Yes. Because Scott's sure." Scott's standing at the end of the hallway. Stiles turns away so Scott can't see his face and then mutters, "Scott, you been listening?" Scott nods, which seems to remind the Sheriff that werewolf and things are still real.

25696 medium
In the locker room, Kira's dad asks her why she wasn't headed to lunch like everyone else. She explains that Scott and Stiles left the bookbags and she was just trying to be nice so she'd make friends. Scott overhears that Kira has trouble making friends.

25697 medium
Stiles picks up his bag and tells Scott that he knows what Malia was looking for. He takes the doll out of his bag, and Scott gives him a look. Stiles explains that he thought Scott could use it to get Malia's scent. Henry Tate is at the school, and he comes over and grabs the doll from Stiles's hands, demanding to know where he found it. Sheriff Stilinski steps in and tells Henry Tate that he can't be at the school. He touches Henry Tate when he shoves him back and realizes that he's wearing a gun. Henry Tate says he has a permit, but CA schools are gun-free zones, permit or not. Henry Tate leaves, imploring the Sheriff to find and kill the coyote.

25698 medium
After school, Allison gets a tranq gun. Dr. Deaton gives Scott some vials of Xylazine, a horse tranquilizer. They should expect it to work within seconds on a werecoyote. He warns them that they only have three chances, so whoever is using the gun has to be a perfect shot. Scott replies that Allison is a perfect shot, but Isaac corrects him. "She used to be." Scott's sure she can do it. "If we can manage to find the thing," Isaac says. Stiles gets annoyed. "What is the point of him? Seriously, I mean, what is his purpose? Aside from the persistent negativity and the scarf?" Isaac insists that he's there to ask the hard questions, like how you turn a coyote back into a girl when she hasn't been a girl for eight years.

25699 medium
Scott says that he can do it. The night Peter trapped them all in the school, Peter was able to make him turn using just his voice. Deucalion did the same thing in the distillery. Dr. Deaton points out that they're talking about a werecoyote, not a werewolf. There's no proof that it would work. Scott called Derek because he wanted him to teach him how to put that kind of power in his voice. But right now he's afraid to even turn into a werewolf. Stiles says they need a real alpha, and Scott looks hurt. "You know what I mean. An alpha who can do alpha things. You know, an alpha who can get it going. You know, get it..." "Up?" Isaac offers. "Great. I'm an alpha with performance issues," Scott remarks.

They try to think of who to ask other than Derek. Isaac doesn't recommend Peter. Stiles suggests the twins. Deaton points out that they're not alphas anymore, ever since Jennifer broke their necks. Stiles thinks they still might know how to get Scott to roar. Scott says no one's seen them for weeks, but Stiles says that's not totally true. Lydia is still dating Aiden.

25700 medium
Scott, Stiles, and Lydia meet the twins at Derek's loft. They attack Scott from behind and start throwing him around the place, pummelling him.  Bleeding, Scott says he thought they were going to teach him to roar. They reply that in order to roar he has to give in to his animal nature. Stiles points out that he tried to teach Scott control once by using a heart monitor and lacrosse balls, but hey, maybe beating the crap out of Scott is better. Scott's incredulous that this is actually their plan.

25701 medium
Their plan is make Scott so angry that he turns and kicks their asses. They taunt him and punch him some more, telling him to give in and be the monster. They tell him that giving in doesn't make him the bad guy as long as he can control it. Aiden thinks control is a little overrated. Scott does start to get a little angry, and he rushes at Aiden, but Aiden slams him on the table and starts punching him in the face. Ethan stops him. Scott spits blood but does not roar.

Henry Tate sits out on his deck setting claw traps.

Allison and Isaac are getting the tranq gun ready. She asks him if he thinks they'll be able to home in on Malia. Isaac assures her that he's got a lock on Malia's scent, which is kind of strong. He hands her a bottle of the Xylazine and a syringe and then watches as she gets so shaky she drops the bottle. She kneels down to pick it up, and when she gets up, she's in an operating room.

25702 medium
Allison sees a body under a sheet and pulls the sheet back. It's her. Suddenly she is the person on the table, and a bunch of people in scrubs stand around her. Her aunt Kate is there declaring the ME said the cause of death an animal attack, but they need confirmation by autopsy. Allison's chest is cracked open and spread, revealing her organs. Kate reaches in and pulls out her heart. She says there's definitely something wrong with it and throws it out. The rest of the people in scrubs take off their masks and reveal werewolf fangs. They close in on Allison and start to feast.

25703 medium
Isaac calls Allison's name, and she comes back to herself. She has the tranq gun pointed at him. She apologizes and sets the gun down. He says it's better than ring daggers anyway. She asks how she's supposed to help anyone when she's like this. Her hand holding the bottle is still shaking. Isaac takes her hand in his and asks her to let him help.

Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Allison, and Isaac head out to Beacon Hills Preserve. Lydia thinks they might be doing more harm than good in this situation. Scott points out that they're trying to keep Henry Tate from killing his own daughter. Isaac says that they're trying to keep a guy from killing a coyote, who is actually his daughter, who we don't know how to change from a coyote back to his daughter. Stiles is again annoyed by Isaac's pessimism. Allison gets her gun.

25704 medium
Sheriff Stillinski slams a claw trap down on the table in front of Henry Tate. A jogger almost stepped in the trap while out for a run. He asks how many traps Tate put out. Tate looks toward his back room, and the Sheriff goes back to find stacks of empty boxes. He gets angry and yells at Tate that some kid could die in one of these traps. "My kid died," Tate replies. The Sheriff says they're going out and disarming every trap even if it takes all night.

They then notice that the screen door has a hole ripped through it, and Henry Tate realizes that the coyote got inside the house. He grabs his gun. They start searching the house but see the coyote outside. It has the doll. Henry Tate shoots but misses.

25713 medium
Scott hears the shot and jumps on his bike. Isaac and Allison take off after him. The Sheriff orders his people to clear the woods of civilians. Stiles calls his father, and the Sheriff tells him that Malia took the doll again. Stiles tries to figure out what's so important about the doll. He realizes that the doll belonged to the younger sister and didn't just end up in the car crash, it was left there, like someone leaves flowers at a grave.

25705 medium
Isaac runs through the woods and gets caught in one of Tate's traps. His scream affects Scott, and Scott falls off his dirt bike. Allison catches up with Isaac as he tries to pry the trap off. Instead, he points out Henry Tate to her. She takes aim but starts to shake. Her first shot misses. Isaac tells her to breathe. Tate takes aim at Malia. Allison whispers her new Code to herself, "Nous protégeons ceux qui ne peuvent pas se protéger eux même." She uses the Code as her anchor: be your own anchor. She fires and hits Tate with the tranq. Malia gets away.

25706 medium
Stiles calls Scott to tell him that Malia is heading toward the car wreck. Lydia calls Stiles's name. He looks over to see her foot in the middle of a trap that hasn't yet sprung. She tries not to move and tells him to look for instructions on how to disarm the trap. "Lydia, why the hell would they put instructions on the bottom of a trap?" "Because animals can't read." The problem is that right now neither can Stiles. He gets on the ground and finds a label, but it's gibberish.

Scott chases Malia on foot.

25707 medium
Lydia tries something else. She tells Stiles that he doesn't need instructions. "You don't need them because you're too smart to waste your time with them, okay? You can figure it out." She tells him to figure it out. He wipes sweat off his face and concentrates. He finds a small wheel on the side of the trap. Stiles turns the wheel, and Lydia leaps away. The trap delays enough that she gets clear before it clamps shut. Lydia clings to Stiles for a second in relief.

25708 medium
Scott pours on the effort, letting himself shift the faster he tries to run. He leaps over the ravine and in front of the car, getting in Malia's path. Scott roars. Isaac reacts to the roar and breaks the trap around his leg. Stiles and Lydia turn to the sound of the howling. "Oh, that's what I'm talking about," Stiles says.

25709 medium
Malia's eyes glow, and she lies down. Then she shifts back into a human. She looks at herself and the woods in confusion.

The Sheriff brings Malia back to her father. Stiles watches from the car. They seem to have given her a shower. The Stilinskis nod at one another, and Stiles happens to glance at the sideview mirror. He can read the warning on it: Objects in mirror are closer than they appear. His relief is palpable.

Back at the station, Agent McCall takes all of the Sheriff's files away. The Sheriff slams the door after him.

25712 medium
Derek, Peter, and Braeden walk through the hunters' house. They find a trunk on a table. Derek tries to touch it, and it zaps him. Peter explains that it's rowan wood, or mountain ash wood. Braeden kicks the lock off and opens the trunk. It's filled with mountain ash ash. "Somebody really doesn't want our hands in there," Peter says. Both them look at Braeden. She digs her hands in and pulls up a cylinder with a triskele carved on the top.

25711 medium
At night, someone approaches the nemeton. There is a sprig of fresh growth shooting up from it. They pluck out the sprig. Fireflies start crawling up from the space where the sprig was growing. They swarm out and eventually form into man-shaped beings.
